The nights rain

Early one morning Rin and Jaken were sent to catch some fish (Rin was hungry so Sesshomaru told Jaken to go with her to the river).

Rin wadded in the river guiding the fish towards Jaken. He had caught about two, one small and the other one medium, when Sesshomaru told Rin to stay there while he and Jaken look for Inuyasha to see what the new cent in the air was.

Looking at Sesshomaru she replies, yes my lord.Jaken put the fish inside a basket that Rin had made. Now save some for me this time will ya! He said, and he and Sesshomaru went off.


A few minuets later Rin heard a noise not to far from the other side of the river,
“he told me not to leave but…” she wadded past the river to get a better look. “I wonder what it is… maybe an animal, or lord Sesshomaru coming back early”.

As she moved some brush there, to her surprise, a girl lay sleeping on a pile of leaves.

“She does not look like a demon… I wonder what village she came from.”

She moved a little closer to try and get a better look, tapping her shoulder to see if the girl would wake.

The girls eye opened lazily “hmm? Wha… who are you?” she sat get and looked at Rin with a questioned look.

” I'm Rin what's your name”? Rin said with a hapy smile. “What... my name? Oh it is Kioki, what is a little girl like you doing here all alone? Aren't you scared of demons attacking you?” She blinked at Rin alittle worriedly


Rin smiling, “oh I am not alone, and I don't worry about demons because my lord would either kill them or scare them off... what about you? are you all alone?”

...Kioki smilled and nodded " yes.. but I am much older than you so you do not need to worry" Rin smilled and nodded.... A few seconds later a voice screamed out. “RIN!!”


As they both looked out to where the voice came from Kioki stood up beside Rin. Rin smiles and looks up to Kioki “ that's master Jaken come on, you can meet him…”

Rin takes Kioki's hand and pulls her to the clearing and past the river, all the time kioki is looking down to make sure she did not trip Rin since she was much taller than Rin was. " R..Rin... uhh..." Kioki mummbled.


They finally stop and Kioki looked up at a face that looked confused and disgusted.
“he's a demon… is this Rins lord she talked about?” Kioki thought to her self. “Rin you were supposed to wait here for us” Sesshomaru said while glaring at Kioki.

“I am sorry my lord I won't do it again.” Rin said as she gave a slight bow.


Sesshomaru still staring at the person next to Rin “This is my new friend, Kioki.” Rin blurted and then gave Kioki a little push to get her to say something. “ uh hello… my na- name is Kioki… it is nice to meet you.” Kioki bows toward Sesshomaru.

“Can she come with us lord Sesshomaru?”Rin asked. Kioki's head shot up in shock and stared at Rin in amazement.

“No.” replied Sesshomaru. But Jaken thought to himself “if she comes along I won't have to baby sit any more.” He cleared his throat and turned to Sesshomaru “lord Sesshomaru if I may, the next town is not to far from here, why not let this wench of a girl tag along?”

Sesshomaru looks at Jaken knowing he must be thinking of something to help himself then looks at Rin, when all of a sudden a loud thump is heard along with an oww.
Both Sesshomaru and Rin look at Jaken who was down on the ground with a fist sized lump on his head.

“You weak little imp, calling me a wench when you can't protect yourself from a human… you better watch what you say next time or you'll get a bigger lump on the head!”

Sesshomaru stares at Kioki till their eyes meet and once Kioki looked in his eyes two feelings hit her, a frightened one and also a warn feeling. All of a sudden Sesshomaru gave a small smirk and says “ you can follow us till we get to the next village."

...Rin looked up at Sesshomaru with a suprised and happy look “really?” she shouted then took Kioki's hand. Kioki let out a sigh of relief and smilled at Rin. Sesshomaru then turned away and started to walk. Rin and Kioki followed heading off to the north, Sesshomaru in front, Rin holding Kioki's hand, and Jaken trailing the rear with a big lump on his head.

“maybe bringing that girl was a bad idea after all.” Jaken thought to himself while running to catch up. (end first chap ^_^;; I know.... it sucks )

Back in a nearby village Inuyasha had just killed a snake demon and collected another shard or the shikon jewel, when Myoga popped out of the grass and started to suck on Inuyasha’s neck.

“What the?... dam parasite” slaps his neck to get the pesky flea.

“Myoga? Why are you here?” Kagome asked. “Something must be wrong” Miroku said mockingly.

As they all look at the flattened flea they hear a tiny whisper. “Thought you should know master Inuyasha, but your brother is on his way here.” Every one looked kind of worried except for Inuyasha of course.

“Let him come, we need to settle something.” …. Kagome looking at Inuyasha worriedly commented “Inuyasha… don’t go looking for trouble…besides I sense another jewel shard off that way.” Miroku and Sango both agreed. “Besides, we still need to collect payment on killing the demon” Miroku said while walking towards the dojo to collect everything they owned.

Inuyasha didn’t like the idea of just leaving but he thought that since Kagome sensed another shard off to the north they might as well leave. Little that they new Sesshomaru and the others were already there.



Rin just finished telling Kioki how she met Sesshomaru, but as hard as she was trying to listen to Rin, Kioki could not keep her eyes off of Sesshomaru. Jaken (who had 3 or 4 lumps on his head) was very happy all of a sudden…

“Ha! There is the village now this wench will get out of our hair and off of my head.” Realizing that he said that out loud flinched… but Kioki didn’t strike him nor did she look at him. She had her ears focused on what Rin was saying and her eyes were on Sesshomaru.

All of a sudden Rin started to look a little said and squeezed Kioki’s hand, “aww already?” Kioki glancing at Rin then to the front she saw a tiny little village… Sesshomaru having not changed his expression said “ok it is time for you to go” then he turned and glanced at Kioki…

“What is it about this girl that is so different?” He thought to himself as Kioki bent down to say goodbye to Rin. “I will see you again and then we can play ok?” Rin said in the kind of voice nobody can say no to…

“I promise.” Kioki smiled then walk passed Sesshomaru and into the village but before she entered the village she turned and thanked them for letting her travel with them, and she gave Sesshomaru a look of sadness that gave Sesshomaru a weird feeling like the first time he saw Rin. But he shrugged it off and they went off into the east.


As Kioki was walking into the village, Inuyasha and the gang were walking towards her, they were all looking at Miroku who was counting all the prizes he gathered from the lord at the dojo. When all of a sudden Kioki walked strait into Miroku and they both fell on their butts.

"Oww", Kioki said quietly. Then she looked at the monk who was staring straight at her,

“oh I am so sorry I should have looked where I was going” as she was getting up she helped Miroku up. “Oh no problem my dear lady” Miroku said while still looking at her. As Kioki was helping him up she bumped into Kagome who wanted to help them both up.

Kioki turned around and apologized. Looking at Inuyasha’s face seeing he was annoyed she bowed a little and said “please forgive me; my name is Kioki…” bending back up she looked at Kagome who looked to be very friendly.

“I am so sorry I was a little clumsy I was thinking about someth…” Kioki’s face got red and Sango looked at Miroku and his hand is on Kioki’s butt.


Before Sango could say anything Kioki had turned around and punched Miroku as hard as she could and he fell in the mud on his back. Everyone was surprised and Inuyasha walked over to Kioki and stared into her eyes.

Kioki thinking the worst was about to apologize when Inuyasha asked a question… “How did you learn to hit so hard?” Kioki looking at him then started to laugh and then remembered the perverted monk.

She turned and helped him up, “I am so sorry are you hurt?” Miroku smiling at her just replied that it happened every time.

“Hey” Kioki said. “Is it possible if I came with you guys? I could help out.” Kagome Sango and Shipo and even Miroku were all happy to hear the idea, Inuyasha however was a little skeptic on the idea.

“Oh Inuyasha come on… it won’t hurt us to have some one like her with us.” Sango said. Inuyasha looked at everyone and then at Kioki… “fine, but she has to earn her keep by helping defeat demons.”

Course he did not think she would last one day with the demons they encounter looking for the jewel shards. So the went to the area where Kagome sense the shard.



Meanwhile Sesshomaru, Jaken, and Rin were walking in the forest. Then Sesshomaru said that they should rest here for the night. Rin happy to hear this plops down on a pile of leaves, then looks at Sesshomaru who looked like he was thinking about something that bugged him.

Jaken sat next to a tree and made himself comfortable. “we will get to see Kioki again right Lord Sesshomaru?” Rin asked.

Sesshomaru glanced at Rin then at the sky “probably not” he said in monotone (when does he not speak in monotone?). “Well I hope we do” Rin said while staring in the sky then she nodded off to sleep.
