The muffin pretty much took away Naraku's sanitity when he couldn't destroy it. Naraku fired magic and stuff at it but it still wouldn't die. Later, (my favorite part) Kanna ate it and said, "Yum, Banna-nut!" Pretty much there are other stories which different items that make him more insane.
