Americans along with other people believe that all cartoons are made for little kids and little kids only. Cartoons across the world are being given a reputation for being "childish." Many people, knowing this, hide the fact that they watch Anime; I being one of them. What is your opinion on this matter? Do you hide?

(NOTE: I WANT MATURE ANSWERS PEOPLE. NOT CRAP LIKE, "anime rocks " IF YOU HAVE NOTHING MATURE TO SAY PLEASE DO NOT POST.)

I dont really hide the fact, but I dont talk bout it either. When the mention of anime comes up, I usually just shut up and not say anything, but if someone asks me if i watch anime or not, I just say "yeah, sure"

When i say i watch anime, some ppl say its childish....

I'm kind of along the lines with teh fallin' stars. I mean, most of my friends either don't know what Anime is or don't really care for it (with the exception of one who thinks that FMA is a pretty kewl show). Most, if not all, of the people at St. Bob's Academy who proclaim that they love Anime (by either admiting it or showing it by wearing accessories) are refered to as nerds, dorks or some other insult. I hid the fact that I like Anime for it could cost me my reputation for the next 4 years of high school. My friends of course would not abandon me but wouldn't think the same of me due to the pressure of society.

uhh, not me. im all like, "duuuude, that episode of champloo kicked arse!!!!" you should have seen it!!!!!!!!! I dunno, maybe its because i know people who watch it too... >_>

at my school if you watch anime it means you like hentai or something. So... I "don't" watch anime. yep.

TBH it's nothing special to talk about really, I don't catch saturday night shows much anymore. Zato thinks I'm too good for it now or something, it's really kind of funny I would say. Then he spends the next hour telling me about it... really not so funny >_>

Before i switched schools, i used to talk about anime 24/7, but now only a few of my friends actually KNOw wat it is and watch it.....

I don't hide The fact that I watch anime! But i do have to say that when i ask a friend if they watch anime or even like them, They give me a look as if they have no idea what im talkin about! I dont minsion it alot though. Expecialy at school. Since i am a cheerleader and all and I hang out with a lot of kids who mostly just chill and do sports and act like they dont have time for it. Sometimes i feel embarressed when i talk about why i have to be home at a certain tme to watch an anime! But i couldnt care less what othas think enymore. anime rocks! :D

haha...I was waiting for someone to start this topic. Anyways, yes i do hide the fact that I LUV anime and I don't have a problem hiding it. In my case to keep a social status I hide it...hehehe. I wish I wouldn't have to hide it though because anime is NOT for little kids most of its like 13 and up so it shouldn't be considered chilidish, but too bad huh? So yea, I keep it absolutely silent that I like anime. ^_^;

I don't hide it, but I do not blurt out that I watch it.

Firstly, I am not a major anime fan, because there is a lack of some decent animes airing on TV in Canada. Secondly, out of my actual friends circle, 3 of them watch it. 1 is an avid anime freak, she draws amazing anime, but she never talks about the actual shows. The other two, we mention it here and there, but we have other things to discuss. And I've told a few other of my friends that I watch Inuyasha, and they don't really care.

It's not like anime is considered to be "nerdy" or "geeky" at my school. You just don't seem to hear people talking about it. But the truth is about 3/4 of the senior class, has watched anime such as Dragonball, or Sailor Moon, and none are afraid to speak of that.

Definately if I found someone to talk to about it and get me into more anime, I would let it out...but otherwise, if it isn't discussed then I have no need to bring it up to people who don't care.

Yes, I usually do hide the fact that I am up late watching anime, except to one of my friends who likes Inuyasha as much as I do. Actually, it is very nice knowing that she knows, b/c now we discuss the episodes together! It is fun. ANIME ROCKS!!!!!!!

no I don't, the reason is, well let's say naruto for instance, it's taught me in many ways, it has motivated me, and inspired me to join karate (no joke, it was when Lee was drunk, and i am now IN karate xD)

At school you hear, OMG INUYASHA SUCKS, or DRAGON BALL Z suck, whatever, yet when their away from their friends, and they talk to me, they ASK ME, if i have the new dragon ball z game for the PS2.... their the ones to say yes

I don't care who hears, i'll sit at the lunch room table, and be like OMFG that episode of [Insert Anime here] was WICKED, and for some reason, after i say that, some people actually talk to me about it. I don't care who finds out, i like it, just like Videogames, and i'm not afraid to let anyone know ^^ I am me, and if you don't like me, well, thats your problem

SSB, it's kinda the same way here, except when people ask that, i'll say no, but Kenshin killed 5 guys pretty quickly, or Vash has the whole town trying to kill him for the bounty on his head. So yeah! Ever see me in school? in class? let's talk about anime if the teacher isn't doing his job

I can not Lie. Only three of my friends know I watch anime. I do care what people think and eventhough I know that there is nothing wrong with anime, anime is usually often associated with the "dorks" or "kids." I have to say I totaly disagree and maybe that does make me fake but I'd rather keep my "fake" friends.


I keep the fact that I watch anime to decrease my chances of becoming severly socialy crippled. Yes If soemone happens to come up and bout that theywatch it will usually say "oh yeah! I have seen that once it looked okay." I'm glad all of us can just come up and admit it and I'm not really ashamed either. I have to say, in some ways a 15 yr old watchng cartoons is a bit wee odd.

i dont care that people know i watch anime cause if they sayt its for kids im like yes taking a sword and ripping some things head off is really wat parnets put on for their kids like viloence not kids violence teens
